Bank on your possession

Six R’ that will change recession into possession

We simply attempt to be fearful when others are greedy and to be greedy when others are fearful.
“Warren Buffet”

My husband stepped out of one of the tower buildings on London Wall last Friday and went to buya copy of the London Evening Standard from the newspaper stand. The 80 year old woman on thestand greeted him with a smile. My husband noticed her missing teeth bar one and nearly chokedfrom the cigarette smoke that billowed from her lips. The Headline read ‘Record Crash’, and heenquired what she thought.
‘ Seen it all before love, what goes up comes down , what is down can only go up’

Who needs the experts when there is such wisdom on the street? Who needs advice when it in allin the word?

The trouble with the bubble is the debt trap
“Greed”

I have been asked so many questions, lately on the financial upheaval. Should i sell my house?2.Should i rent my house?

3. Where should i put my money? 4. Is gold a better option? 4. I am in so much debt? 5. Thechurches just want money 6. Is this the Globe government coming into play?

Well as a believer you have one great option tohold unto, what Jesus has already done for you to overcome John 16.33 Be of good cheer for i haveovercome the world. We have to remind ourselves in this hour that we have an inheritance in Christthat cannot go belly up, because the word of God will stand firm while this shaking is taking place.Yes it’s true you can now witness, how true this is . This was the case in last depression of USA thatmany great man and woman were repositioned to the forefront of the destinies. John D. Rockefellersaid highs and lows come and go but prosperity will come back. Well… true prosperity is acceptingwhat Jesus done for you on the cross; the return is a lot higher, then any bank can give you today.

Henry Ford‘s factory was burnt down and all he had left was the scraps of the factory, he used thescraps to create a new idea and made a fortune. You may feel all you have is scraps right now, butyour ability to take the scraps of your life will enable you to come out with a witty idea. Oh yes that’sright you can become a new person through this difficult time.

Reprocess your heritance. You are a joint heir with Jesus Christ; accept the value that God’s hasplaced on you. When you do this, you will then cooperate with God to develop the best possibleyou in this world. This will eliminate fear of failure or defeat, because nothing can stop you and Godworking together. Isa41:10 Deut 31:6 You will have courage because you have now discovered thatwith God at work in you, you are indomitable .Jos 1:9 1john4.4 You now can stand tall, square yourshoulders, to look out into the future with confidence, to walk with steady walk, and rise to the levelof importance for which God created you.ps:46.1-3

Warren Buffet’s 10 Ways to Get Rich

Report from property investments.co.uk September 2008

1.  Reinvest your profits – When you first start making some money, don’t spend it all right away. Rather, use it togrow your business and increase your profits.Be willing to be different – This one confused me somewhat. The article claims that instead of following the herd,

2.  Buffet focused on undervalued investments and beat the market year after year which makes a lot of sense. It thenstates, “To Buffet, the average is just that – what everybody else is doing.” This confuses me a bit because Buffet is abig proponent of low-cost index fund investing. So much so that he bet approximately $320,000 that the S&P 500 IndexFund will outperform a collection of sophisticated hedge funds . The argument against index funds is that they are “justaverage.” Anyway, the point is, don’t just do what everyone else is already doing in the same way that everyone else isalready doing it.

3.  Never suck your thumb – Gather your information and make a decision. Calling any extra time wasted beforemaking a decision “thumb sucking,” the article states that when people offer Buffet a business or investment, he makes adecision on the spot. (I need to work on this thumb sucking thing with my daughter, actually…”see honey, Warren Buffetsays you shouldn’t suck your thumb either and he’s the Oracle of Omaha…”)

4.  Spell out the deal before you start – Always agree on the specifics of any deal before starting on it. Buffet notesthat your bargaining position is greatest before beginning work on a job. So, even with friends and relatives, make sureeveryone understands and agrees to the details of the deal in advance.

5. Watch small expenses – I think this is what spurs him to recommend low cost index funds. If you read that articleabove, you’ll see the crazy fees that are levied by those hedge funds. This suggestion, of course, extends far beyond justinvesting advice. Limiting your expenses in all areas of your life will extend the reach of your paycheck as well.

6. Limit what you borrow – Woohoo, now you’re talking! The article claims that Buffet has never borrowed a significantamount of money. His advice is to become debt-free and then save some money to start investing. This is quite a bitdifferent from all the gurus claiming that rich people get rich by using other people’s money.

7.  Be persistent – Buffet claims that someone possessing persistence (and ingenuity) can win against a bigger and/ormore established competitor.

8. Know when to quit – Sometimes, it is best to just cut your losses and walk away instead of throwing good moneyafter bad. When you are down, resist the inclination to win it all back with the next bet.

9. Assess the risks – The article describes a situation where Buffet advised his son to imagine the worst-case andbest-case scenarios for a certain course of action. This exercise will help you understand the risks and rewards forwhatever decision you are making.

10. Know what success really means – The article claims that Buffet does not measure his success by dollars. Here’s an interesting quote from Buffet:”I know people who have a lot of money,” he says, “and they get testimonial dinners and hospital wings named after them. Butthe truth is that nobody in the world loves them. When you get to my age, you’ll measure your success in life by how many ofthe people you want to have love you actually do love you. That’s the ultimate test of how you’ve lived your life.”

I started being a member of a Woman’s Call right at the beginning of its journey.  During that time, I have made friends and received great fellowship. A Woman’s Call has given me so much in the quality of its teaching combined with encouragement along my personal journey of faith. It has provided me with an awareness of my talents, purpose and destiny in my Christian walk as a woman. I have gained a deepening of my belief; spiritual growth; and a greater self-awareness. I know A Woman’s Call has been a central feature of where I am today in my Christian walk. I look forward to carrying on exploring, developing and going deeper in what it is to be a Woman of God.

I would like to thank you for bringing the best out in women and making them realise their God given potential. As a matter of fact  yesterday I appreciated your passion for seeing women released more and I felt I must thank you in a special way for giving yourself, your time and your resources to us which we often  take for granted. Well done Shaneen.

As l reflect on AWC prayer meetings, there’s one word that comes to mind…. “Acceptance”…It’s a safe place, where a group of women from all walks of life, are given the opportunity and platform to rise in the 21st century. They stand true to their vision and mission for women.  The worship is tangible. God comes in. Lives are changed. Hope is renewed.  A prayer spoken in truth is the most important conversation you can ever have with the one that created you.  It calms your fears, abandons pride and leaves you dependant on the supremacy of who God is June

Dare to be Great

Shaneen Clarke

Before Leonardo da Vinci painted The Last Supper, he saw the masterpiece in his mind. Before Winston Churchill led Britain to victory during World War II, he envisioned winning the battle. Before Tiger Woods won his first championship, he saw himself holding the coveted trophy. There are times when God gives you a dream so distinctly that it changes the direction of your life. This is what he did for Joseph, the son of Jacob, who predicted his rise to great leadership – much to his brothers’ chagrin. On other occasions the Lord plants an idea the size of a mustard seed into your mind and it begins to germinate and grow.

In my seminars I often ask people to take out a pen and jot down what they wish to be known for, what they feel the Lord wants them to accomplish. You will never savour the thrill of success until you see yourself as victorious. I’d like to live by the words of Paul who said,

‘We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.’

(Romans 8:37)

You are valued by God. You were created in his likeness and are essential to his plan on earth. Your Heavenly Father planted seeds of greatness in you – which he expects to blossom and grow! This will only happen if you challenge yourself to move from the natural to the supernatural, from the common to the uncommon, from the ordinary to the extraordinary; in other words you must dare yourself to change.

Glance over the titles on a news stand near you and you’ll see dozens of magazines promoting health, beauty, sex, fashion and self-improvement – it’s not hard to see why the average person finds it difficult to align their will with the Creator of the earth. Why? Because we would rather sing along with Frank Sinatra, ‘I did it my way.’

God’s Kingdom requires the opposite approach: doing things according to his will. There is absolutely no substitute for a life that is totally yielded to the Lord.

So how will you know if you are fulfilling God’s calling for your life? Perhaps you can answer these questions:

  • Is there ‘fruit’ – can you see results from your efforts?
  • Do you enjoy your daily activities?
  • Do you feel a sense of urgency, or a passion for what you do?

If your answer is ‘no’ then you are just filling in time and fitting in with those around you. Today may be an opportunity for you to take some time for personal inventory and self-evaluation. As it says in Proverbs 29: 18, ‘It is God’s perfect will for you to have a vision, because without it you will perish.’

During a graduation speech at England’s famed Harrow School in 1941, Winston Churchill gave one of the shortest, but perhaps the most powerful addresses in history. He simply told his audience,

‘Never, never, never, never give in.’

There is an echo in his words of the apostle Paul saying,

‘I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.’ (Philippians 3: 14)

What does ‘Sold Out’ mean to you? To a shopper it might mean a frustrating absence of an item they are after, or to the shopkeeper it might mean bare shelves and high profits. To me those words convey being dedicated, transferred and surrendered completely to God.

Your salvation came as a result of a sold out life. Jesus paid the ultimate price when your sins were nailed to the cross and his blood provided cleansing for your heart. All that is required of us to receive this priceless gift is… faith.

Why not repeat this prayer with me:

‘Lord, thank you for your priceless gift of life – for the future and for now. Thank you for your example of being ‘sold out’, please help me along that path too. Help me read your word and strive to be the absolute best at what you call me to be. In this way I know I will accomplish your perfect will in my life. Amen.’

By praying this prayer you are daring to step into greatness!
